Allison Lindley started playing in school in Auburn, WA at age 11 and was inspired by her grandpa, E. “Don” Wiles, who was a popular authentic old time fiddler in northern Idaho. She played in the orchestra through college, but didn’t enjoy the classical music scene, so put it away for 10+ years. Around 1995, she was given one of her grandpa’s fiddles. She wanted to learn to play her grandpa’s tunes, so she started learning to play by ear. In 2010, she found some fiddlers in Idaho and joined in jamming and entertaining at community events senior centers. From 2014-2016, she entered contests in Hailey, Idaho and in Weiser, but enjoyed jamming, entertaining, and playing at church the most. When her husband and she moved to Winston, OR in 2017, she joined OOTFA right away and found an amazing community of fun musicians to play with and learn from! Allison is looking forward to teaching fiddling to kids and meeting people at camp! (There’s a reason we call it PLAYING!) She came to play, so let’s get to it!
